Early Intervention Team

Mission

The Early Intervention Team’s (EIT) mission is to identify students exhibiting behaviors detrimental to their or other Benedictine College community members’ success and provide resources improving opportunities to achieve student success.

Vision

The Early Intervention Team is dedicated to fostering a vibrant campus community where every student is supported in their personal and academic growth. Our vision is to create a safe and respectful environment through proactive, evidence-based interventions and collaborative strategies. We strive to empower students to overcome challenges as they discover his or her purpose, meaning, and vocation to which God is calling them.

Online Referral Form

Submissions of this form will be used by the Early Intervention Team to ensure that the concerning behavior raised will be dealt with thoroughly and timely.

Examples of incidents and situations that are addressed by the EIT include classroom disruption, behaviors that may pose a threat to the physical safety or well-being of individuals or groups, and conflicts among individuals or groups that have the potential to escalate and pose a disruption to elements of the Benedictine College community.

Response and Follow-Through

Upon receiving a report, the EIT has a range of options.

  • The first step may be to contact the reporter, obtain additional information as needed, and provide the reporter with campus resources if necessary.
  • Another early step may be contacting the student exhibiting concerning behavior for a meeting. Meeting goals may include sharing the concern with the student, learning if the student identifies with the stated problem or has a different experience to share, exploring with the student possible options the student may undertake, and developing a plan of action.
  • The Chair may forward the report to the Resident Director of the student of concern for responses outlined above.
  • Regardless of the initial assessment and actions taken, a database case will be created, discussed at the next EIT meeting, and additional actions may be suggested or the case may be recommended to be closed.
  • Follow-up with the reporter or student of concern may be recommended at different points in the process as either may be in need of support.
