Maintenance Worker

Position Summary

Perform general maintenance, preventive maintenance and repair of campus facilities as directed.

Work Schedule: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., some evenings and weekends required

Essential Functions

  • Perform all preventative maintenance checks in dorms, classrooms and all campus areas
  • Perform preventative maintenance and recurrent inspections of life safety equipment including smoke detectors, exit signs, fire extinguishers, emergency exit lights, and alarm panels
  • Conduct routine daily checks on hot water and steam boilers and air conditioning systems. Change HVAX filters.
  • Change light bulbs and ballasts throughout campus as needed
  • Provide General Maintenance repairs such as electrical, plumbing, window and door/lock repairs, drywall repair, paining; and general maintenance tasks as requested by faculty and staff
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with other workers, staff, faculty, and students
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision to stay on task and perform maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Accurate – Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Communication, Oral and Written – Ability to communicate effectively with others as well as working with technical documents and procedures
  • Problem Solving – Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work related problems
  • Technical Aptitude – Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information
  • Driver’s License – Must maintain a current valid driver’s license


  • High School Diploma or GED


  • Two to three years experience in general maintenance
