Alietia Caughron, Ph.D.

Alietia Caughron is a Kansas City native. She received her BA in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College, Santa Paula, CA, an MS in Mathematics from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a Ph.D. in mathematics and the history of mathematics and science, also from UMKC. She was a recipient of UMKC’s Distinguished Dissertation Fellowship.

After completing her Ph.D., Alietia began working in the financial services industry and has worked at a number of property & casualty insurance and reinsurance companies including GE Insurance, Swiss Re, and CNA Insurance. She is currently a Managing Director of Risk & Compliance at TIAA (formerly TIAA-CREF), a diversified financial services Fortune 100 company. She is a frequent presenter at industry events on Capital, Enterprise Stress & Scenario Testing, Risk & Solvency Assessments, and other risk-related topics.

Alietia is a Dame of Malta and a member of Legatus. In addition to serving on the Board of Benedictine College, where she currently chairs the Student Life Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee, she also serves on the board of the Lumen Christi Institute at the University of Chicago, the Chicago Board of Regents of Thomas Aquinas College, and the board of the Friends of Chamber Music in Kansas City.

Alietia splits her time between Chicago and New York, while maintaining a home in Kansas City. She is the proud aunt of 42 nieces and nephews.
